How do I determine the correct length of pull for small framed shooter to get a better fit for their first shotgun?

Overview

Having a shotgun that fits properly is critical to getting started in the shooting and hunting sports. A shotgun that fits correctly will be much more comfortable to shoot by directing the recoil properly and greatly reducing shooter fatigue. One of the most inexpensive ways to obtain an approximate length of pull is to measure from the bend of your elbow to the bend of your index finger. The trigger should contact your finger between the first and second knuckle. You can also contact your local gunsmith for assistance. Remington offers compact models in the Model 11-87 and Model 870 that have a 13” length of pull for youth versus our standard length of pull of 14”.  You can find more information regarding these models through the Compact Model section of our website at www.remington.com.
