I have a rifle that is stamped U.S.Model of 1917. What is it?

This is the Remington Model 1917 Enfield. This rifle was produced for WWI from 1916-1918. This model is also known as the Remington-Enfield Model 1917 Military Rifle and Remington Model 22. The barrel should have a "R" or "E". This gun was manufactured between 1917 and 1918 at the Remington facility in Ilion, NY. This gun was originally chambered for the .30-06 Government cartridge. Approximately 500,000 of these guns were produced.
