The MasterBlaster is perfect for knocking out or knocking down material rings in rotary kilns processing cement, lime, phosphate, zinc, manganese, and many other metallic and nonmetallic products. Since there is no need to stop production and wait for "cool-down", you can break up rings and balls before they interfere with production flow.

The basic procedure is to cut a keyway through the ring. This notch normally is shot first in the eleven o'clock or one o'clock position of the ring. In many cases, turning over the kiln once or twice after the keyway is cut will cause the remainder of the ring to drop out. If this does not occur, a few well placed shots, or a second keyway cut on the opposite side, will generally cause the ring to drop.

POWER PLANT APPLICATIONS
Where coal-fired boilers are in use, clinker build-ups form "eyebrows," which are a unique problem. Since shooting the eyebrow with conventional 8- or 12-gauge slugs can damage the cooling system, 12-gauge shot loads fired from a Model 870 are ideal in this situation.
